A TOUR TO SOME OF THE MOST ENCHANTING VILLAGES IN FRANCE

The Itinerary:

Day 1: Assemble at our hotel in Bordeaux, world capitol of wine. A walking tour of the central city, an architectural jewel, and dinner together in the evening.

Day 2: Drive by van thirty miles east to St. Emilion, one of the most famous wine villages in the Bordeaux region, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A walk through the village, and a visit to a nearby wine estate.

We head east later in the afternoon, stopping at Tremolat, an exquisite village in the Dordogne region. By evening we arrive at our home for the next six nights, a lovely farmhouse setting the Dordogne, close to all of our day trips. Our hosts are a married couple, and the husband is an outstanding chef, who will introduce us to some wonderful cuisine of the region.

Day 3: We visit Sarlat, and explore the streets of this beautifully preserved medieval city, and its wonderful Saturday market. In the afternoon, we drive to Chateau des Milandes, a lovely castle that was once the former home of the great American star Josephine Baker.

Day 4: A trip to the beautiful village of Brantome, often called the Venice of this region.

Day 5: We visit Castelnaud and Beynac, two stunning castles and villages overlooking the Dordogne River.

Day 6: We begin the day with a trip to Lascaux, famous site of prehistoric vace paintings. In the afternoon we return to LaRoque Gageac, which many call one of the most beautiful villages in France.

Day 7: We travel south to the beautiful Lot River Valley, spending time in St. Cirq LaPopie, a beautiful village perched high above the Lot River.

Day 8: We visit Rocamadour, an extraordinary village clinging to the side of a mountain. Rocamadour, at one time, was one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in Europe. In the afternoon, we return to Bordeaux. The tour ends with dinner and a stay at our hotel there.

Price per person, double occupancy, $3250. All hotels, transportation (does not include transportation to and from your home destination to our hotel in Bordeaux), and a daily lunch or dinner included. Tour limited to 10 people.
